recommendation on Tuscany.
What airport would be most convenientto fly into from NYto the Tuscany region. Also, what aree good options if doing Rome and Tuscany.
I was hoping to aid a friend. He said he scouted inital fares to Rome for 1700 per person for next May but I thought that was way off. But trying to help him with fares to Rome and Tuscany. So please, what airport does one fly into for Tuscany? thanks in advance. :) |
Hey,
I would try to get a good fare to FLR (Florence), there you ar right in the middle of Tuscany. It's really the most convenient airport for Tuscany. You can connect either in Rome (AZ), FRA, MUC (LH), CDG (AF) or in AMS (KL). YOu can connect to FLR on either of them. I think on one of those carriers you might find a good deal to FLR. Hope this helps! Rgds - Bastian |
Yes Florence and Pisa would be the best airports. Rome is O.K. for the Southern part of Tuscany.

Milan, if you get a good fare, isn't impossible either, it's what we did on the last trip.

You will find more flights to FCO, and maybe VCE. Both are about 1.5 - 2.0 hrs by train. I would expect a flight woudl cost 5-600 rt.

$1700 is way off unless you're not meeting minimum/maximum stay requirements etc. It looks like best fares for May NYC/Rome are less than $600 (plus whatever taxes apply) with a Saturday nite stay, max stay of 30 days. FLR/VCE/MXP all slightly more ($50 or so).

well, turns out I was misinformed, they are also considering Summer dates.
So theose numbers might juibe for summer. Thanks for the italiatours link. I sopke with a few people who DO NOT recommend Alitatlia but met a few people who flew there and spoke highly of Delta. Any other tour recommendations anyone can suggest? something inclusive of airfare and accomodations in Tuscany? thanks. |

Any other tour recommendations anyone can suggest? something inclusive of airfare and accomodations in Tuscany? thanks. BLQ is an easy airport, bus to train station, and then train across. Other than FLR, one pretty much needs a car to tour Tuscany, so very little difference between Pisa and BLQ. |
respectfully speaking, I just spoke with them. their advice somes from the fact that these folks are 6ft 5 inches tall and felt very cramped in Alitalia coach vs Delta coach.
What are the differences b/w both carriers? |
clarkhoward.com has a travel page with good deals from ATL. He used to own a travel agency and you might get a sense of what a good price to italy is there. I wouldn't pay more than 800.
for packages, frommers has a daily e-newsletter. |
