Without a doubt, Bill Clinton.

It never ceases to amaze me when I see the reverence that so many around the world view him with.

I vote for the mouse... especially now that there's a Disney in Hong Kong.

But also, what about Oprah?

Or David Haselhoff? Scary thing is, I'm serious - isn't Baywatch supposed to be on every second of every day somewhere in the world?

That would make Carmen Electra into this list.

That's a good point: many in the U.S. would say "What's professional hockey?"

(ducks to avoid the anticpated flaming! but consider this.... ask the same question of europeans or asians and you'll realise what a shallow question you asked in the first place. you're better than that... don't fall for such a question in the first place is my real answer.).
I don't know...I've been in discussions before about the most well-known Frenchman, Welshman, Englishman, or whatever.

This yank would go with Jean-Jacques Goldman, Ieuan(sp?) Evans, and Tony Blair, with hono(u)rable mention for David Beckham for what it's worth.

Isn't/wasn't Jerry Lewis a household name in France for awhile - Maybe now Lance A?

Presidents and Hollywood types would definitely be there. Sports figures not so much 'cause the rest of the world really doesn't play what Americans do.

George Bush would be the most recognised in Australia closely followed by Bill Clinton.
Sporting wise probably Tiger Woods.
