Vanishing Hotels?
From time to time I pick up on suggestions of good hotels in cities far and wide only to find they have they have now disappeared without trace - no mention of them anywhere.
Obviously in places like Hong Kong & Vegas - they just get knocked down and its quite widely publicised (Hilton, Furama etc), others it is less obvious what happened (bankruptcy, apartments, name change)? Here are a few that seem to have disappeared, anyone know what happened to them? The Imperial Hotel, Bangkok - friends of mine loved this place Mayfair Regent, New York (Used to get Rave reviews) Dorset Hotel, New York Victoria Hotel, Hong Kong Any others? |
Hacienda, Las Vegas

Mayflower in New York (on Central Park) - closed last September, has since been demolished to make way for luxury apartments. It was a bit old and faded, but I rather liked it!

The Grand Hyatt in Seoul will be demolished in a few years time due to it's sensitive location in a historical setting.

I believe the Victoria Hotel in Hong Kong is the one on top of the Eastern tower at the Macau Ferry. That building is now called the China Merchants Building, and I believe all office space. Better return for the owner.
