Is there a universal webpage that lets you type in a flight date and number and will show you the seatmap for that flight along with availability?

Nope. You can generally look at seatmaps by recreating your itinerary on the airlines own webpage and there are a variety of availability tools that are free - however, some appear to be more accurate than others.

how accurate are the seat maps on the individual airline sites? Are some more reliable than others?

Does anyone know what happenned to seat maps on Orbitz? They showed seat maps til about a week ago and all of a sudden the function seems to have disappearred?!
