Passport Stamped Twice??

Couldn't find a thread on this, seemed weird to me and was wondering if anyone had a similar story and maybe an explanation. Upon leaving BRU the other day, the customs agent stamped my passport with an exit stamp twice! Any ideas? I was tempted to ask lol, but I've always felt the quicker though customs the better :)

This has happened to me at AMS last Sept. To date, I am the only one who has noticed it.

It was done to someone who apparently had flown out of ZRH a previous time after having visited BRU. (He went US-Belgium by air, by road to Switzerland, by air to the US, back to BRU and then out of BRU back to the US.) Apparently they had not "caught" him leaving Schengen last time. I don't know if that is generally the case why or if that was his conjecture.

Interesting, yes one stamp was placed next to my entry stamp for this trip, and one stamp place next to an Schengen entry stamp from March. The exit stamp for my March trip was placed way at the back of the Passport, maybe he missed it and was compensating? LOL.

Very interesting situation! Will be on the look out the next visit.

Not to steal the thread or anything, but when did the US stop stamping US passports upon arrival. I came back international last July they stamped, then upon international arrival this March, July, and August no stamps.

Any ideas?

When I visited Vienna my passport when leaving to go to Stuggart I just went though like I was going to another state.. then I came back to Vienna for the flight home and still nothing.. I then had to leave and go pick up something outside and then my passport was stamped again so I went back in to board the plane to JFK but turns out plane was overbooked so I had to fly to London to catch a flight home.. I decided to stay a day in london and my passport was stamped.. however coming back from london to USA they didn't stamp my passport when I was leaving..

Stamping on reentry to the US seems to vary. I came back from Russia in July and got stamped at Atlanta.

In my experience it's nothing to be concerned about at all, unless... you have a particular reason to get the stamp. For Canadians, Americans and Europeans travelling without the need for a visa, it's a formality. If, however, you are travelling on a visa, need to be concerned about the number of entries, or perhaps the dates when you were away from your home country for tax reasons, then make sure your stamps are in order.

I travel from YOW to the US twice per month. I get stamped half the time on average when entering the US and almost never when returning home to Canada.

I had noticed this too. I finally asked the immigration officer on my last return and he said it is entirely hit or miss, depending on what the immigration officer feels like doing. He said that I can always ask for the entry stamp.

Yes. On certain occassions I get them while at others, just a quick scan of the passport with no stamp.

I received my first entry stamp in 10 years this January in Atlanta. It's completely random.

I usually ask for a stamp when reentering the US as I've learned this is the only way to be sure to get one.

Anyone else like the new US stamp better than the old?

I'm about at 50-50 chances of getting the stamp myself...

Perhaps it's really not necessary to stamp a citizen's passport but force of habit and they stamp some anyway?

If you are dual citizen, thus having 2 passports, would the US Immigration stamped both passport (US passport and the other) ?

Has anyone done that? Kind of curious after reading all these stamping.
