Connecting at IAH
Hello,
I'll be flying into terminal A on HP with a two hour layover before my outbound BA flight leaves out of D. I looked at the IAH website, and of course it's in BFE compared to A. Can anyone tell me the quickest way to get from D from A? Also, is the Terrace Lounge near the BA departing gate and does it have a smoking section inside? Thanks Ian |
HP uses Gate 17, and there's a shuttle bus there that brings you over to B67. Get off, and then walk over to the Terminal Link train to get to Terminal D/E. This is all airside, so no need to reclear security.
The other way is to get out of the secured area, and then take the tunnel train to D/E, and then reclear security at D. |
Houston is a completely smoke free airport. There is a designated place to smoke which is outside near the parking garage (it's pretty close to what I think is the main security check-in). You will have to clear security to get back in the airport. Isn't usually a problem if you've got more than an hour - but I'd eyeball the security lines before going outside. There may be other outside areas where you can smoke - but that's the one that's closest to where I've made connections the last few years. Robyn

Thank you for your replies. I still remain a little befuddled as I flew into A17 tonight from PHX for business. After I walked back out security, I saw signs saying to the skytrain, Terminals B,C,D with arrows pointing down at the elevators. I took the escalator down to get the rental car shuttle, but all such connecting to other gate signs vanished.
How does one get to B67 from the A terminal without leaving security? You'd think by my dumb a$$ question I travel once annually so I apologize. I guess I could take the rental car shuttle over since after it leaves the A terminal it stops at B, hop off, and get on the sky train. PS. Thanks for the smoking info. I only asked in reference to the lounge smoking as even at DFW which is a smoke free airport, the Admirals Club has a smoking lounge in it, so I was curious as to the British Airways Terrace lounge where I will have access to use with my CW ticket. |
I have never taken it, but there is a bus shuttle between Terminal A and "near" B67. You don't leave the air-side secured area.
What you saw at A is the sign to take the tunnel train. It's seperate from the Terminal Link train inside secured area. |
I took a look at the airport maps - and it seems that the only way to get from terminal A to any other terminal is a shuttle bus (which I assume is within security).
Here is a useful list of the smoking situations at the 25 largest airports in the US (including the airline lounges). Houston is 100% smoke free inside. Robyn |
As I said before:
Inside security - bus Outside security - tunnel train |
