Another vote for SIN. I was impressed by how quickly I got through Immigration & Customs. As for AMS, I wasn't all that impressed by it. The Immigration line took forever: it reminded me of the lines I wait in to get back into the US.

Terminal A is a pit. Retro 70s. No where to eat. One bathroom. WorldClub is a hole in the wall -- ok, it's a two story hole in the wall. We never leave on time. On the positive, Metro is nice and close, and acutally, there is a great walkway for Avis/Hertz from the "Historic Terminal" Good eats in B/C too, I usually hit Fridays or CPK before I take the walk of shame over to the A terminal.
I really have been impressed with the new DTW. It's my base airport. Overall, it's not bad. People just need to learn there are 3 security checkpoints you can utilize. Once I step off my plane, I can be on the expressway in under 15 minutes. That is pretty darn good. However, the ground crew at DTW can sometimes be painfully slow.

I endorse SIN again, and for the one within US
it would be ISP - old terminal, curb to the gate under 5 minutes and gate to the curb under 2 minutes. AMS is also great, but the experience could be different based on the time. |
BHM is a good one. Probably not the best of those mentioned, but I speak from my own personal experience. In/Out/Rental Car/downtown or Mountain Brook, etc. all in very short order.

I'll put in a vote for MHT. It's less than an hour from Boston, parking costs $8/day, and you can go from the front door to your gate in about three minutes if you printed out your BP's already. The only downside is when the two closest long-term parking lots (i.e. the ones within walking distance) are full and you have to deal with the shuttle bus.

LGB - It has short security lines and is easy.

Departing from DCA is great when not using Terminal A (NW, YX, FL, NK and ATA). Usually I need to allow about 5 minutes from metro to Gate if I am not checking luggage and am already checked in. |
OSL and PDX are my two favorites; great size and easy to get to and out of.

This is getting repetitive, but here's one more vote for SIN. Currently it's my home airport and I love arriving there... A quick walk to immigration, which I can zip through with an access card (available to residents here, though not that it's a necessity--immigration is normally very quick even without one), on to pick up my luggage which normally requires not more than a few minutes wait if that, and right out the door. I know that within 30 minutes of deplaning in SIN I'll be home. ^

I hear and echo, but SIN. I love that place although it's always sad to leave :( Initially I wasn't too fond of the place aesthetically, but on a function basis the place works! I know a couple people who work at Changi and there is a reason behind everything from the carpeting to the color of the signs.
I too like the way HKG looks, but as others have said the walk from gate to gate can be killer. |
SIN is very good, but lately the taxi queues have been long. Last Friday arriving around 8pm I had to wait 20 minutes for a taxi. Gate to taxi can normally be done in 15 minutes, even with checked luggage.

AUS. Just one big open brand new trerminal with no trams/buses to worry about, short walk to cheap parking. Of the 15 or so times I have flown in and out of that airport I have yet to have a bad experience.

Plenty of small/regional airports seem rather efficient to many, but that doesn't make them so across all measures.

AMS and OSL are my favourites in Europe.
