Airfare from Spain to NYC?
 

Hi,

A good friend of mine (she's a student) is trying to get from Spain to NYC to visit her family, but is finding that the cost of airfare is too expensive and she can't afford it. Anyone have any suggestions of ways she can get cheaper airfare? Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Also, try booking 2 separate tickets ie Spain to London (LHR), then R/T LHR/NYC. You can use any city. Sometimes you may catch a break in pricing if one city is having a fare sale.

that depends when your friend is planing to travel? if its somwhen during july and/or august, then forget to trying to find a 'cheap fare', because all the air companies has given a word to each other to not sell ANYTHING for less than or around 900 EURO for a round trip. on kayak.com, lastminute.com or ANYWHERE you want online. this is so called the f*cking HIGH SEASON airfares. Im just in exactly SAME situation, i think this stupid airliner bull**** is SICK and paying 900euro for a transatalntic roundtrip is SICK. Why just they dont buy more planes and fly EVERY 10 MINUTES during 12h every day a week a Madrid/NYC or paris/nyc, london/nyc or whatever it is ???? :mad:

Assuming you are trying to find August departures. Dont bother with the direct flights out of spain, I checked connecting through LHR but CDG would work well or even KL out of AMS connecting late in the month for around 720 euros.

There are charter flights on Air Plus Comet which is I guess a part of Aerolineas Argentinas every Monday from MAD to JFK. Not really sure of booking situation and which agents can book it. They seem to come in at around $670. These are non-stop on an airbus 310.

IB to LHR connecting to AA to JFK with a return direct to MAD can otherwise be found for around $785.


Otherwise, fares drop first on the 24th of August with several offers available for around $600 on IB connections to VA and BA. Virgin may have some deals earlier in the month as well but nothing below $620. Strange thing as find these MAD fares below LHR-JFK fares.

I personally got my best deal flying up to ARN and then a $253 SK to EWR and the stockholm ticket at $161 for a total of $414 but that KSALE fare just expired and was only available after the 24th as well.... Good luck.

try air comet - they use aerolineas argentinas airplanes - very cheap.
