Any other airline prohibit you from taking your own food and drink on board?
In this thread, BigVince76 has noticed that on the new menu for bmi's LCC short-haul economy food operation it says "Only food and drinks purchased from the cabin crew may be consumed on board."
Does any other airline on earth prohibit you from eating your own sandwich or taking your own bottle of water on the flight?

Do they tell you in advance (when you buy the ticket or when checking in)? What happens if you are diabetic or for some other reason really need to eat and/or drink and don't have cash (Other than that being confirmation of you being a fool for not having any cash on you)?
Do they allow you to consume your own food if they run out of food to sell?
What a stupid policy. It seems like a great way to stay in the customer's memory in a bad way. Bad leg room, being so common, is quickly forgotten, but unusual crap like this is not. Besides, your market is not very captive on a short haul flight.

Food Odour Avoidance
I think the airline has imposed such a rule, especially in Asia so that the cabin does not smell of certain types of food, like a popular shrimp paste used in ASIA, called belacan. And on BMI flights they are probably afraid of perhaps, cabbage ?

what about special medical diets?
Tried to check out bmi's rules on their site, but it is down for maintenance, so I'm wondering if anyone can tell me how they would deal with people on a special diet for medical reasons, or food allergies? Do they offer any advance ordering of special meals?
In the U.S. there are some legal protections for those on medical diets, but I'm not even sure whose jurisdiction bmi would fall under, maybe EU rules? Does the EU offer protection to those with special medical needs while traveling?
