Pet on board F Class
 

I was on my way home and flying in F class.

A guy had a bag laying on the floor. The bag was a gym type bag with whe small holes in it. AFter getting comfortable i happen to see the bag moving.. I was like :confused: :eek: ... Than i look at it more closely and its a DOG inside of it. I looked and it seems the dog had a boarding tage stapled to the bag so i assume it was allowed on the plane. . (Very small puppy by-the-way.) But i was getting nervious that this thing was going to be barking all the way home. .

I got lucky and not a peep out of that dog the whole flight. (owner must of gave him sleeping pills or something). I'm supprised that UA would allow pets on board.. As it could cause noise issues and distrub other passengers.

United allows 2 pets per flight. It is quite expensive; you have to pay a fee for the pet, and you have to have a certification from the vet that the pet is healthy, which must be dated within a week of travel.

Yea but are they allowed to SIt ON BOARD with you in a bag or are they placed with the cargo down below? This guy had it sitting on the Floor in between my seat and his..

Yes, I was referring to the pets allowed in the cabins. UA (and other carriers) restrict the number of pets allowed on any flight within the cabin. That is why you have to book space in advance, to be sure that you are within their allocation.

Here is United's policy on traveling with pets.

Your dog or cat can travel in the cabin with you, accompanying you as checked baggage or unaccompanied as cargo. All options require advance reservations and are subject to a charge.

Wow thats supprising.. Because if that dog was barking throughout the flight I would have been at the Customer Service counter after that flight requesting my F class ticket refunded due to the dustrubance.. Infact i was so pissed about that i was already planning it out on how i was going to go up and complain to UA.

thank god that dog wasn't making any noise.

Right. Sure UA will refund your money because a dog barked. Just like they will refund it because that darn baby would not stop crying.

Anyway, the the $80 was for inflight pets. The $100 is to check them (or $200 if they are large).

Also, FWIW - Pets are not allowed in International First Class. Only Business.

Gosh given your recent posts about being upset with Ted and not getting your video in F...

Maybe your switch to AA will make you a happier flyer! :)

We all have our run-ins with UA from time to time, but no need for you to put up with their torture! :D

Pets are usually given tranquilizers prior to flying in Pet Class; most pet owners are fairly considerate of fellow pax.

:D yep, my next trip to LAS is going to be via AA since UA has no F service.. and once MIA becomes Ted i'll be doing the same. its sad...i do like UA and wanted to contuine my biz with them but if they want to become this discount airline like southwest and frontier without F seats they are going to loose some money...but i do like flying them to SFO and LAX due to the 3class cabins...so i'll stick to that.

Well look out for the pets there too. AA allows two pets in F and up to five in Y.

I think UA has figured out they DO NOT lose money when they convert to Ted - they get more seats sold per aircraft than they do when they tie up F space with a bunch of people upgrading. I love an F upgrade as much as the next guy (or gal) but if UA stays in business and gets profitable by putting more routes in Ted livery then I'll bite my lip, use a drink chit and relax in E+.

And I hope you find everything you desire, and more, while sampling AA. Don't forget, if you don't get your upgrade on AA, you'll be in Less Room Throughout Coach :)

Man oh man, will you ever stop complaining to us about UA? :confused:

You like the three class F service, but then complain about lack of videos even though you lack the initiative to ask for them... :confused:

And that's not counting the FAs. :D (Granted, UA has the matrons...but I've seen some pretty down-home ugly gals from Teh-xahs on them there MD-80s aeroplanes. Yee haw!) :D

Yeah.. a few years ago (when they still had the service) flew SEA-BOS w/ my rather aged cat in F in the space in front of me (no - we were not putting her in luggage). She was good (very quiet)... seatmate didn't even notice she was there until the attendants came over and made a big fuss over her - very sweet.

BTW - no tranquilizers - vets I've had do not consider it a good idea.

My partner had to drive the car cross country instead - which he has never let me forget :)

I agree with AlecM, most pets are not given tranquilizers. Most small pets are pretty quiet when their owner is near by and they are in small carry bag anyways. WindFlyer is right that pet owners are considerate of their fellow passengers so I wouldn't worry too much about it.

As almost every airline offers some easy way to bring pets on board and as more and more people travel with their pets, you are bound to see more four legged flyers throughout the cabin. Especially since United and possible others are giving an extra 1200 miles for PetClass travel too.
