Please help a Geo-geek . . .

OK, I admit I am a geography geek -- always was, still am, likely always will be. Probably why I like to travel so much. I have photos of me at northern end of Route 1 in Ft Kent, Maine and at the southern end in Key West. I also have a photo of me at the easternmost point of US territory (Point Udall on St Croix), the 4 corners area in the SouthWest, etc, crossing the equator in Kenya, one foot in each hemisphere at Greenwich, and even the Rose Line in Paris (pre-DaVinci Code, too).

Well, I took a trip to the 4 corners areas and was delighted to see our route would pass the Continental Divide. So, as my travelling friend and I were heading westward we nearly passed it without noticing it. He was a bit concerned when I backed up on Route 10 [Correction: Interstate, I-40] for about a half-mile  -- but I was on the shoulder! (mostly, :D ) It was hard to get a photo with all the semi's zooming by but I got it.

Sad to say, the photo is wayyyy out of focus.
Would any of you wanderlusters happen to have a photo? Or, if you live or plan to travel near the Divide, take a snapshot for me. If so, PM me and I will pay whatever cost you might incur. Thanks.

You know, I was just thinking how nice it would be to take a first class round-the-world mileage run with a stop to take a private helicopter ride out to the Continental Divide, if only someone would pay whatever cost I might incur. ;)

Actually, sorry I can't help you. There are worse things than being a geo-geek.

Are you talking about where Interstate 10 crosses the divide in southwestern New Mexico, or some sort of State Route 10 in Colorado or New Mexico that crosses the divide (if there is a State Route 10 in CO or NM that exists and crosses the Divide)??

Sorry, I-40, not I-10

Thanks for replying -- it also made me realize there is a typo in my original post  . We were on the Interstate heading west from Albuquerque, which is I-40.

And for Helena Handbaskets, I will assume that your comment was sardonic, not sarcastic -- hard to tell, sometimes. :) I was only asking for people who might live out that way or are already travelling in the area. Not asking for someone to go way out of their way for a measly photo.

Is it this one? If so, you really are a geek. I was expecting something much more impressive.

Thanks a lot!

OMG! The scene, I will admit, is pretty non-descript -- flat highway, generic road sign, could be anywhere in the US -- but yes, that looks like the one. It is not the sign that is impressive, it is knowing that it is the Continental Divide that makes it special. My photo of the me at the equator is about as impressive, but I know I am half way between the Poles in it.

Thank you so, so much (God, I do sound like a geek -- I promise you, I do not go to special conventions or anything like that). :D

My dictionary defines "sardonic" as also including some of the ill-will of sarcasm, so I can only say that my intent was not to convey any ill-will at all. You're right that it's hard to tell sometimes. That's why I included the winking smiley. I'm glad to see that your inquiry has borne fruit.
