SEATAC layover, this weekend
This is my first post, so please be gentle.
I will be laying over in SEA this coming weekend (Friday, Saturday night). Instead of seeking out Motel 6, is it possible to snag some super deal at a 4-star hotel or something downtown? How would one go about it, if it is possible? If this is the wrong forum, I apologize. :) Since you folks are total professionals at this, I am here seeking your wise counsel. |
you might try checking out biddingfortravel.com to see what Seattle hotels are going for on Priceline right now.
Hotwire.com is another good option. You should be able to get a 3* downtown for slightly more than motel 6 |
A lot of people score the Doubletree at Sea-Tac on Priceline for under $30 a night.

If you're a bit of a gambler, bid 2* and $45 in the Seattle Downtown zone on Priceline and hope to get the friendly and quite nice Springhill Suites. It's not assured of course, and you might get a not as nice place. But I've gotten this place three times on 2* bids. If you want assurance of a nice place, bid 2.5* and $55 in the Lake Union zone. Not quite as convenient, but quite workable for being downtown. Of course both suggested bids could fail, depending on hotel availability. As mentioned, see biddingfortravel.com and betterbidding.com . |
What the heck, why not bid $45.00 for a five star downtown and see if the Grand Hyatt pops up. It has been known to happen.
We are always angling for points and stays, so we don't have the option of playing Price Line very often, but when we have, we always go for five stars at really low prices and sometimes we even get them. :D |
Today marks the arrival of the first cruise ship of the season so any Priceline bids for downtown should be made asap. Note that 2 of the Lake Union places (Residence Inn and Silver Cloud) offer free shuttles to downtown.
