HKG, DEL or EZE?

I am looking to go away for about 4 or 5 days - use up an expiring credit on Air Canada. Obviously I want to gather the maximum number of miles at the same time.

Of the choice of HKG, DEL or EZE where would you go? I have never been to any of them and all would cost about the same (with EZE being slightly less).

Thoughts?

HKG, DEL or EZE?

Have not been to DEL, but between HKG and EZE, EZE would be my preference.

It is a beautiful city, inexpensive, and the people are WONDERFUL! We had no problems with safety or security while we were there. It is easy to navigate and there are many things to see and do. There is a terrific antique market in San Telmo every Sunday that should not be missed.

I found HKG to be crowded, humid, and polluted. As you walked down the street, air conditioners would drip, drip, drip....

Just my experience.

Have Fun!

I've also been to HKG and EZE. They're both nice, but HKG is much more expensive. I'm going to EZE next month, so that's who I'd give the nod to.

Depends

What do you want to experience? Have you been to SA before? Asia? China? India?

DEL - Delhi, India will be the most exotic and "roughest" locale. If you have experience in more challenging travel - go for it!

EZE - Buenos Aires is easily the most "western" of your choices. I haven't been there, but hear it's wonderful and economical.

HKG - I admit to a bit of bias, but I love Hong Kong. Some of the comments made thus far - crowded, polluted, dripping A/C are certainly correct. I have been disappointed that HK seems to get steadily more polluted. However, if you plan AROUND major conventions and eat at local rather than tourist restaurants, it can be quite cheap. Plus, you have the added benefit of side trips to Macau and the PRC for added flavor. I always recommend HKG to anyone who has nevr visited Asia before. HK is exotic, but very user friendly. Lots of English. Lots of neat sightseeing/shopping opportunities. Very safe, at all hours IMHO.

But, it all boils down to what you want out of the trip?

At this time of year? EZE without a second thought.

I have not been to any of them, but have been to Asia once before (KUL). South America has never been on my radar but for some reason this time around it jumped out at me as a potentially cool place to go - plus it is not that expensive.

I do like the off the beaten track stuff, as well as the more mainstream. This year I am already doing off the beaten track with a trip planned for Turkey (IST and Epheus), Auschwitz and a week driving around Israel.

Big cities don't bother me, hence HKG being on the list. DEL struck me as it is a new destination for Air Canada and well, it is a place I would have never thought to go to.

By the sounds of it EZE is a better choice for a mid-May break from reality. Now any decent hotel recommendations there? ~$100 a night is the most I want to pay, but of course like it to be central, 5 *, be waited on hand and foot :D

I've also been to both HKG and EZE and I love HKG. It's one of the most exciting cities on the planet.

But it will cost more... just be aware. A decent 3* hotel cost me US$50 or so/night when I was there. About $30 for EZE.

I've spent a lot of time in all 3 places. My preference is EZE.

Weather in HKG in May is WONDERFUL BTW.

For only 4 - 5 days, you'll be spending a lot of time in transit, more so to HKG and DEL than EZE. Just for that, I would go for EZE.

Add in another vote for EZE! (Of course my handle probably indicates my bias, but whatever. :D) All three sound great, though. I guess if I were making the pick I'd go for EZE, then DEL, then HKG, especially because of the short length of the trip. Flights from the US to Argentina (and I imagine from Canada to Argentina, too) all leave around 9 PM and get you there in the late morning. If you can sleep you won't have any major jet lag because the time difference is only one hour ahead of EDT.

Enjoy your trip and make sure you tell us which one you pick! :)

I loved EZE. I went there for the first time last November. You'll get the most bang for your buck there. Food was incredibly cheap. Accomodations seemed plentiful and reasonable too. Lots to see and do and you can always hop on a ferry and visit Uruguay (Montevideo and/or Colonia) if you are so inclined. Just watch out for all the dog poop that seems to be left on the sidewalk. Blech!

In order of preference, I would say EZE, EZE, and EZE.

Very low stress, you don't even need much of a plan, and wonderful.

In eze you will not be jet lagged.
