One thing that reservations are good for is securing seats in the Nonsmoking cars.

It's a pretty straight forward process to just buy the tickets from the kiosk at the train station once you get there. This will ensure you are actually THERE when your train leaves and not delayed in the air or at some other airport.

That early in May there shouldn't be a huge influx of tourists and I personally would probably just stick with 2nd class. If it were farther into the summer travel season, I'd want a First Class ticket with a seat reservation.

Hmm.. that sounds like a plan. Now I just have to figure out how soon to leave on the return.

Are the power ports for standard European plugs, or the airplane type plug?

Standard Euro, most every seat in first has them, as well as some restrooms
