Gold Airways

Does anyone know anymore about this proposed airline, Gold Airways , in Australia? Rumour has it that they will be underpinned by a large global alliance, possibly Star. Luftansa, Singapore Airlines, Air New Zealand ???? Wow!

From what I can gather, they have yet to apply for their Air Operator Certificate but according to a colleague in travel they have already lodged their statement of intent with the Civil Aviation Safety Authority in Australia and only need the planes to get going. The guy at the helm was apparently a hedge investment specialist with one of the big banks in Australia. Cool. At least he will understand the investment pitfalls and risks.

They are apparently going to offer a spacious cabin and run the preferred A320 family fleet mix. I am not sure about this, but my friend says they have been making arrangements in the Phillipines and in Europe for there planes to be converted.

If they run a A318, A319, A320, A321 fleet then they are going to be a force to be reckoned with. Those aircraft have enormous cost benefits.

Good luck to them for trying something hard. It might just get rid of some of the 30 year old crap in the industry. Seriously old 737-200 and old Bae146, man they are just the pits, in my view.

So, I wonder where they are getting the cash from? Won't go anywhere without cash I guess. I reckon though, if is underpinned by Star then cash wont be an issue. I bet they're up to something sneaky.

The suggestion was for a move to TravelBuzz. This has nothing to do with miles.
