Nope. We did have SAC bombers (B-52s) at Eglin AFB, but I was a teenager then, so never got to fly on one. TAC wasn't a possibility, either, though I DID hear a rumor (which I am sure is an urban legend) about some F4 pilot on a short systems-check flight without a GIB arranging to stop on the tarmac prior to takeoff and let his friend who was hiding at the start of the runway to run up and climb in for a short flight.

Wow, boilermaker, a trip down memory lane....thanks!

<<Edited to add: I guess I'm just slow today. I just realized that you probably posted that reply in humor. So, please allow me to add a :)

This year, so far I flew the following:
America West 9x

Eastern*
Pan Am*
TWA*

Olympic
NAC*

*denotes airlines that were either taken over by another carrier or went entirely out of business

United (though I haven't flown them in more than 4 years for various reasons)
American
Continental
USAir/US Airways
TWA
Midway Airlines (its first incarnation)
Virgin Atlantic
Air France
Iberia
El Al

I found United's service to have declined steadily in the last few years that I flew them; I can't speak for what it is like more recently.

Most of my flying these days is with American and Continental - I'm a frequent flyer member with both.

My only time on Air France was a trip to Guadeloupe (via Miami and Port Au Prince) when I was a young kid - many years ago. The most notorious thing about that trip was Haitian troops marching us off the plane in Port Au Prince at gunpoint and forcing us to buy from the airport duty free shop.

Not nearly as many as some:

BA (RTW trip in F when I was about 14 or 15, I think)
UA (Int'l C & domestic F & Y)
NW (Domestic F & Y, Int'l Y)
CO (Domestic F & Y, Int'l Y)
DL (Dom Y)
HP (Dom Y)
TWA (Int'l Y)
Singapore (Int'l C - I think I was 9 years old)
AA (Dom Y)
US (Dom Y)
Bangkok Airways (Dom Y)
Thai (Int'l Y, Dom C)
KLM (Int'l C - when I was about 7 & again when I was about 12 - & Int'l Y)
Cathay Pacific (Int'l C - when I was about 12)
ANA (Int'l C - when I was 12)
bmi (intra-europe Y)
LH (int'l Y & maybe C when I was about 9, but I'm not 100% positive on this one)
AF (int'l Y)
Air India (int'l & domestic-India Y)
Indian Airlines (was on a flight from Delhi to Jaipur & the engine literally caught on fire - only dom Y)
Pan Am (dom Y)
Iceland Air (Int'l Y - still can't believe they charge for soda & chips!)

Oddly enough, as thrifty as I am, I've never flown on a LCC, though I was thinking about an easyJet flight once, but I never ended up booking it.

Only ones I havn't seen yet, but I'm sure someone here has flown on one of them.

Valujet
Xiamen Airlines

Lawnboy Sep 12, 2004 5:02 pm

Which brings me back to an interesting story. On Xiamen, out of the gate at SZX, the FA starts walking down the aisle and scanning the barcodes on everyone's FF card. I felt left out ;) Never seen that before. Probably about 50% of the Pax had one.

Keithl Sep 12, 2004 9:31 pm

haven't seen this yet but its my most unusual:

Xinjiang Airlines on a TU-154 from Xining to Guangzhou.

The boaring process was amazing, we all had BPs but no seat numbers so when the gate open (just the size of a regular door) everyone ran to it, shoving and pushing to get onboard. If you didn't get on, too bad, next flight.....

Also, not mentioned:
FAT - (I kid you not!) aka Far eastern Air Transport between Taipei and Kaohsiung
Uniair - also between Taipei and Kaohsiung
