Ques: Weather Channel in hotels
 

Question:

why don't hotels with the weather channel show your "local on the eights"?

It seems they just show the forecast in the major cities rather than the local forecast.. this is so annoying? why do they do this? anyone know?

Rather than local fed stations in most hotel they use a dish or similar. So the feed is from national sources and not local hence no local on the 8s

The previous post is exactly right. The satellite doesn't know where the signal is being received, so it can't send the local feed with the area forecast to your hotel. You'll only get this if the hotel subscribes to the local cable service.

This is one of the very few drawbacks to satellite service.
