LGA-JFK possible?

I already booked a segement from JFK-HKG on CX in F, but I am thinking of how to get to New York City, and the only solution is to go from YYZ to LaGuardia, no flights to JFK. Can anyone help me, and tell me how to get from LGA-JFK?

Doesn't CX have YYZ-HKG service, stopping somewhere in the US? You can also take a cab. IIRC, it'll cost around $30-$40.

You should double-check for YYZ-JFK flight. I found a DL flight on some random dates.

Don't forget to post a trip report!

I wanted to try F class, and its an award ticket, after all. F was eliminated from YYZ early last year, and since JFK is the closest F point........But my travel agent is having a problem trying YYZ-JFK, she is drawing up YYZ-EWR and YYZ-LGA.

Well, you have a few options, none of them great.

The first thing I'd try is calling one of the local car services... I bet it's not too outrageous (~$50 maybe??? But really not sure.)
Two companies that have been around forvere and are reliable are at:
1-212-777-7777
and
1-212-666-6666
They generally just want you to call when you arrive and they're waiting for you when you get your bags, but give them a call to check their rates

Other options are:
Airport Bus, info here. About an hour, $13.

Local bus, subway, bus combination - Q48/LGA terminals to the 74th/Roosevelt subway station to the Kew Gardens subway station to the Q10 bus to JFK terminals. $4-6, 2-3 (4?) hours.

OR

Local bus, subway, AirTrain - as above, Q48 to subway, but go to Jamaica Subway station and transfer for the AirTrain. 1-2 hours / $9.

Hope that helps.

Delta flies YYZ-JFK, but the reason your travel agent cant pull it up is that Delta and Cathay Pacific cant be ticketed together. Ask him/her to book 2 separate tickets.

Hope this helps

No problem. Air Canada flies nonstop YYZ-YVR, and VYR-JFK, using the same terminal CX uses to go to HKG. Piece of cake.

I've been using AAA Cab in Queens for the past two years. Fast, local & generally $25 point-to-point w/o tip. 718.343.6622

Wow, flying to the other side of Canada and flying back the other way. That's real effective................... Now that I think about it, these are good suggestions, I guess the bus is a good option. I could in theory go to YVR and switch to CX, but I already booked the ticket, since its a award, I'll have a different agent look up the Delta one though......

Every time I'm in a rush to get from LGA to JFK so are thousands of others, and they are all lined up at the taxi stand. So I usually take the bus ($13 or so) if it is within sight or due to arrive shortly.

Overall LGA would be a better option than EWR since it is a lot closer to JFK which should make your cab trip less pricey. ;)

Take a taxi. A YELLOW taxi. Not the from the guys that will all but jump on you in baggage claim at LGA saying "taxi?". Go to the taxi cue just outside baggage claim (it doesn't matter which airline you come in on). You can't miss the line of yellow cabs. To JFK will probably be about $25-30. Its fast (20 min), safe, direct and you won't have to worry about connecting with buses and the AirTrain.

Only possible other alternative is the direct bus fro LGA-JFK that will save you some money but cost you time.

Hmmmm, thanks for the excellent tip........ If it only takes 20 minutes, why not? The bus takes an hour, and I think is $15 anyways. No history of cabbie robbings in NYC, right?
