Fuel Surcharges

It seems that fuel prices have eased from their record highs of a few months back and things are back to where they were a year ago. It also seems that none of the major airlines have noticed and are still adding fuel surcharges....

I wonder, should someone tell them, they are often slow to catch on.

Do you mean jet fuel prices, or crude oil prices?

They've returned to prices from four months ago, not a year. They're still significantly higher than prices a year ago.

New York, NY Jet Fuel Kero Spot Price FOB (C/gal):
2005/1/4: 124.53
2004/7/30: 125.15
2004/1/5: 98.35

That said, I think fuel surcharges are deceptive and should be illegal.
