United 747 Flight from Taipei to BKK. Only about 30 people on the flight, so I put the armrests up and got some sleep :)

September of 2007 was the date

9/18/01, UA IAD-BOS, evening flight, having connected from LHR-IAD.

737, with four pax, total. Two were uniformed UA flight crew. I was in the UK on 9/11, got stuck over there when US airspace closed, and finally made it back on the 18th.

I was the only one in coach. Didn't really care they didn't move me up to First. Honestly, it's only these posts that made it even cross my mind.

My job gives me plenty of opportunities to nab a ride on positioning or ferry flights on various big jets for whatever reason, so ZERO pax would be the most accurate answer.

Some of the more memorable ones in the last few months :

Keflavik to Accra nonstop on a 757. There was a delivery flight planned for a wingletted 757 to go down on a lease, so I called a friend and arranged a ride. Just myself, the two pilots (both old friends of mine) and two engineers (another old friend) on board for the 8h37m trip. Fantastic departure from Keflavik into the winter evening with the Northern Lights visible from the cockpit. Landed in Ghana just after dawn and proceeded to catch a flight back to London at 730am!

Paris CDG to London Gatwick on a 767. We had just spent a long day running charters and got back into Paris from Marrakesh well after midnight. The cabin crew were out of hours but the pilots had some time left, so we decided to continue and ferry the plane back to London right then for her next rotation later in the morning. Just myself and the 6 girls in the cabin for the 22 minute flight in the middle of the night - we spent more time taxiing than we did in the air. Lots of fun stuff (amazing what you can cram in to 22 minutes) that can't really be discussed on a public forum that the CAA might one day read!!!

Lagos to Accra to London Gatwick on a 757. A plane went tech in London so we were chartered in to provide a rescue flight. Full load from London to Lagos, but the return was planned to be a ferry flight. Unfortunately, since the relief crew couldn't get Nigerian visas on short notice, we had to reposition to Accra for crew change and the charterer took the opportunity to place about a dozen revenue passengers on board and make the leg live. I was absolutely exhausted having flown for almost 24 hours without a break, so I just stretched out across a row and was woken up 7 hours later when we were on final approach.

Bridgetown to Accra on a 757. Repositioning an aircraft after a charter from Sierra Leone to Barbados with just the crew on board. A beautiful dawn departure from Bridgetown over spotless beaches and azure waters led to a long flight over water with no land in sight until we hit the coast of Liberia about 6 hours into the 7h42m trip. Ironically due to solar interference we couldn't reach Dakar Oceanic on HF but were able to communicate fine with Gander Oceanic, creating a rather strange ATC situation. Fortunately there was no traffic within 1000 miles of us (nothing that could make it up to FL410 anyway!) and we managed to establish contact with Cape Verde on VHF once we were closer in.

Airline defends 5-passenger Flight
March 7, 2008

- Environmental groups angry with American Airlines after five-passenger flight
- The passengers were unable to be rebooked after flight delayed by 14 hours
- AA says canceling flight would have left many more stranded in London next day
- The transatlantic flight did carry a full cargo load, according to the airline

I've been on two very empty flights since my 2004 post in this thread:

ATL-MCN on Delta (ASA) about three weeks ago. Only 3 passengers for the 79-mile flight on a CRJ-700. I imagine this route is almost always empty, as it costs considerably more to fly xxx-ATL-MCN on many DL routes as xxx-ATL and driving. But MCN is a tiny airport with no lines and no traffic, so the convenience factor is worth it to me when the flights are running on time and the schedule is convenient.

RIC-ATL on AirTran in summer '06. The 8-something p.m. departure from RIC did not leave until after 2 a.m. due to earlier severe weather in ATL and the awful ATC delays that come with that. Anyone with a connection and anyone who didn't want to spend most of the night stuck at the airport were rebooked for the following day, but 5 of us headed just to ATL decided to stay. The AirTran agents bought us all pizza from Papa John's and soda, since the TSA checkpoint and all concessions closed around 8:30. We all received a comp upgrade to business class, as well.

Montreal to Boston about 9 years ago.

I went to the gate about 45 minutes before flight time, and the agent looked at me an asked "Ms. XXX?" "Yes" I replied. "You are the only passenger today. If you are ready now, the flight can leave."

It was a RJ. The FA brought the snack basket and sat down across from me and we visited for the short flight.

I *thimk* I was alone on

(1) a SFO-DTW 707/DC-8? flight on TWA back in the 60's (1460's that is):
(2) a hop on a UA DC10 HNL-OGG, also "back in the days":
(3) an AC Viscount hop Windsor to Toronto on Christmas Day morning ALSO a long time ago, when I was barely able to contain myself over family problems. After all, dealing with the conflict was WHY I was on the plane, flight literally being the only way I saw.

Can't top some of the stories in this thread, but when I used to travel from IAD-PBI on an every other week-basis, I can recall a couple of the 6 am flights to ATL that we're desolate.

2 weeks after 9-11...

I flew up to back from Boston Logan to New York La Guardia (I WILL not use airport codes, there are NORMAL people here who do not know airport codes), 2 weeks after 9-11-01. I have flown since I was 9, (30+ years ago) and have never had fears of flying (even in lightening and thunder storms) but when I flew back to NYC from Boston and was about the height where the 2 jets crashed, I got goose bumps and started panicking. I am absolutely positive NONE of the passengers on the 2 planes knew there were going to die by crashing into the twin towers. Until then, NO hijacked airliner EVER crashed into a building. As God loving and people loving as I am, those terrorist did nothing but do injustice to human kind.

On that Delta Shuttle flight on a beautiful September day, there were 2 other passengers besides myself along with the 2 flight attendants. I was in NYC 2 miles from the Twin Towers and went as close to Canal Street (less than a mile) to take pictures that day. I HAD to move away from NYC due to post-traumatic syndrome. On that particular day, I felt no joy that the flight was empty but complete sadness at those who lost their lives on a routine flight. Rest in Peace fellow flyers. Never again, Never forget. :(

It was only me as a passenger on board on the OS flight LNZ-SZG. The FAs knows me, so they didnīt make the safety announcement only for me !! :)

I have been flown on DL but, it was not too much people the flight from PHX-SLC. It was very emptied flight in Y class but, I am gotten upgradeable in F class from PHX-SLC. It was almost full of F class instead of Y class. When DL agents was called me while I was at the gates. She gave me F class but, I got score upgrades into F class. It is great opportunities from DL agents is gave me into F class for PHX-SLC but, not for SLC-FLL is full. When I got get back to PHX. I got upgradeable into F class all the way to PHX. That's why I am being lucky for flying into F class instead of Y class. Because my medallion is expired last week. If I could flyable more with DL this month & next couple months will try more mileage runs. I will try toward FO again for 2009.

Last year on a mid week evening DFW-LAX A320 flight, the gate agent had to make the following announcement: "Party of six for Los Angeles, you are welcome to board!".

Late April 2003, PEK-BKK just after SARS crisis was widely publicized. An entire Thai Airways A-300 for ten people (face masks not included, we each brought our own). Return flight BKK-PEK a couple of weeks later was about the same head count.

I asked this on my solo flight, and they said they still had to go through the entire spiel. I felt obligated to pay attention.

:(

Thank you for your post, however this is a Frequent Flyer community, and we are not very normal, so airport codes are okay with us.

Also, I'm not sure how *normal* it is to bold and color the font of an entire post.
