In support Finnish filmmaker Aki Kaurismaki also declined to travel to America and I don't believe either has done so since. It is well known that middle Eastern artist(e)s and intellectuals have been closed out of the US because of America's "discriminatory policies" that are not as transparent as for instance, Arab nations' towards western Jews.
