Most Embarrassing Cell Timing:
Howdy Y'all, a quick poll:
When is the worst time your/somone elses cell phone has gone off in-flight? Mine was on final to AUS, we had about two minutes to landing just after the cabin was buttoned up. All of a sudden I hear a phone merrily chiming from the overhead and thought, "that's weird, that dumb person has the same tone as myself..." Then it dawned on me that it was my celly. Worst part was that I friend had recently changed my ring tone to Toxic and as we were about to land I had no way of accessing the overhead bin to shut it off. So for about a minute the entire F/C cabin was able to enjoy in Mrs. Spears latest (at the time) single, while I was devoutly praying the person would not call back. After that incident I have never forgotten to turn off the contraception. :D |

Since none of this relates to CO, I'm moving it to TravelBuzz. Xyzzy CO forum moderator |

I've never had an embarassing cell timing story in the air because I always turn my cell phone off before departure.
|
And I've never had an embarassing contraception issue in the air.

Since they never announce that you need to discontinue all use of portable contraceptive devices, I just leave mine on throughout the flight.

Never happened to me, but on a related note...
On a UA flight into LAX, a man sitting behind me started talking on his cell phone a few minutes before landing (his phone rang). He talked for about 10 seconds, and then a flight attendant approached him and said, "Were you using a cell phone?" He answered in the affirmative, and the flight attendant said that he was going to report him to the captain. OK, at this point, I figure, fair enough -- you aren't supposed to use a cell phone in the air, although reporting it to the captain isn't really necessary IMHO. However, this flight attendant must have thought, "Now's my chance", and after tellling the passenger that he was going to report him to the captain, he followed by saying, "What are you trying to do, crash the plane?" If I were the passenger, I would have sued that flight attendant for slander. Talking on a cell phone is not going to crash the plane! This is just one example of what I have observed over the last couple of years. Now you know why I post some harsh sayings about flight attendants on this board, especially regarding UA? While not all flight attendants are power-hungry jerks, there are way too many of them, and they need some serious re-training, or better yet, a pink slip. |
mine was just a couple days ago actually..not in flight, but close.
I was clearing security at O'Hare on Sunday, for the second time in the span of a few hours. The TSA lady asked me to remove my shoes and and I assured her that I'd just been through in the exact same shoes just a couple of hours before and i was willing to take my chances. I walked through and wouldnt you know..i set off the alarm. As I'm wondering to myself why i'm setting it off now and didnt two hours earlier.. my cell phone..which I had forgotten was tucked into my cleavage, starts to vibrate and ring the theme to Indiana Jones. |

A few months ago, as my AC flight accelerated for takeoff from Ottawa, the cell phone of the guy sitting directly behind me rang. He quickly answered, explained that this wasn't a good time and why and hung up.
