Anyone who has been to Russia will recognise this forwards-backwards between different windows to pay for things well. In the Post Office for example you have to do it to buy stamps !!

As I recall a couple of years ago it was 55 pounds for an overnight visa at the London embassy. No special prices for Americans though which is nice.
