Options From LAX
I am looking for options from LAX to the Four Seasons in Beverly Hills. I've heard that public transportation takes about an hour and a half... And a taxi would be about $50, which is just ridiculous. I'll be in LA from 11/9 to 11/11, so if anyone can assist I would greatly appreciate it. HELP!!!

As you are staying at the Four Seasons, Bevery Hills, I suggest calling the concierge and asking for his/her recommendations re: transport from LAX. The hotel has a fleet of cars and drivers. It is certainly possible that you might be able to catch a ride with a driver who has just dropped-off a pax at LAX. This is something the concierge could arrange. The FS Concierges are well known for their ingenuity. Enjoy your stay in BH. |

Although some hotel locations in Los Angeles lend themselves to easy public transportation access, the Four Seasons is not one of them. I would suggest a shared van transfer (which I used a couple of months ago). Either Prime Time Shuttle or SuperShuttle would charge you about $17.00 (plus tip) each direction, from the airport direct to the FS. http://www.primetimeshuttle.com/SoCal.htm http://supershuttle.com/htm/cities/lax.htm |
If you can afford the 4 Seasons why don't you go all the way and arrive in style in a limo or minimum a cab, arriving in public transit, now that sounds interesting.

Prime Time Shuttle can be arranged in advance on-line (at least the return trip from the Four Seasons to LAX - not sure if you can make advance reservations on-line for trips originating at LAX). I believe they give you a discount if you book a roundtrip, and if you belong to AAA. It will cost about $36-$40 for a roundtrip, plus the tip for the driver. And you may end up being the first or second drop-off.
A taxicab will run $35-$50 each way, depending upon traffic & the route the driver takes. During non-peak hours he'll probably be tempted to take the freeway. The freeway will take you on a more circuitous path, and therefore cost more. Tell the driver when you get in the cab to take La Cienega North, make a left on Burton Way, and a right on Doheny. On the way back, tell him to take La Cienega. |
My initial thought, exactly, djjaguar64. But I think SuperShuttle or Primetime will do the trick.

Welcome to FlyerTalk, LoDoun.
With room rates for 11/09 -11/11 ranging from $330 to $800+ per night at the Four Seasons, I have to laugh at your reluctance to pay for a cab or limo from LAX. If $50 for transportation from the airport to hotel is "ridiculous," then what adjectives properly describe your projected expenses for accomodations? Again, welcome to FlyerTalk. |
What about renting a car? You'll need one to get around LA, anyway. There is plenty of free street parking within a couple of blocks of the Four Seasons. Just read the signs carefully, as some of it is permit parking.

Thanks for all of the advice gang! I think I'll try the shuttle option, it seems the most reasonable.
And as to "Going all the way"... Who said that I was paying? ;) |
Ok ok you're just cheap, he he he....... ;)

That's even better a free hotel room which leaves you money for that arrival in class.
