Changing Back Foreign Currency?

Hello,

Do any of you have insight into changing back Bosnian Marka (KM) into USD? Im in Chicago, and have some of this lovely currency left over as I could find anywhere open to change it when I left. Is there anything I can do??? Anywhere to mail it??? Any ideas are VERY welcome!

Thanks so much

Alex

Well, you could try your local Amex or Thomas Cook office or some other such place, but some of the more "exotic" eastern European currencies have restrictions on being bought/sold in the USA. You might be stuck with it.

If we're not talking about too much money here, you might post over in Travel&Dining: Europe that you have this currency available at the institutional rate. Come to some arrangement and you & some other FTer heading to Bosnia might both be happy.

Money Exchange

I had various foreign money to exchange. I took it into a Bank of America branch. They were able to exchange most of it. A few they wouldn't accept as they were in bad shape. Ended up with $320USD, that I had just laying around the house that I never exchanged.

Did you have any "weird" currencies that you exchanged as part of this??? I know Bosnian is harder than others to exchange.

Whether it's paper money or coins, you can mail it to Change for Good. The coin envelopes are usually given out to passengers going to the US from many foreign countries. They FAs collect them and they go to help Unicef. Here is a link: http://www.unicefusa.org/site/pp.asp...RI8O0H&b=25945

Excellent ^ ^

I usually try and either spend all I can before I leave, or just plan on keeping a souvenier.
