That's looks like a pretty cool service. I'll have to try it out.

I suppose my experience was only a one time thing, and that they might be okay. However, I deal with the same lost driver, poorly trained at securing chairs thing, every time I ride paratransit. I've become quite sensitive to it. I'm not going to deal with that if I can avoid it. The taxi was far better. I sure wish drivers would admit they're lost and ask me to show them where to go.

Taxi, walk out of arrival level, get in taxi. They are plentiful at sfo.

Only time I've been burned by relying on taxis was the *one* day I landed at SFO when the cabbies were striking. Post-9/11 they were socked with a $4 airport fee on most rides, half of which is now passed along to the customer. They felt SFO was subsidizing in-terminal concessionaires on the backs of cab drivers, so I ended up calling a friend to pick me up after realizing my option was a supersh*ttle.

P.S. I rely almost exclusively on one cabbie for rides *to* SFO from town and recommend him highly. Lemme know if you are interested.

$15 vs. $45 only "a couple dollars difference???"

"No more than a couple of $'s???" NO WAY!!!

The difference for a single rider is between about $15-16 for the shuttle vs. $45 for the taxi (including tips). This is going to a residential San Francisco neighborhood (not downtown).

Difference of about $30. Yeah, sometimes I pay the extra 30 bucks to save a few minutes travel time.

Of course, if you have a whole family riding, the difference in fare would be smaller. Anyhow, I've been using Supershuttle for a few decades now. The fare difference between it and a taxi has ALWAYS been far more than "a couple dollars."

I've always thought the pain of the SuperShuttle experience is related to a) your proximity to a major street, and, b) the density of your neighborhood.

If you live at 45th and Quintara, I imagine that it's a long ride to the airport.

I used to live about a block south of Church and Market, and, when I took SuperShuttle, I was usually the last or second to last stop before heading to SFO.

IMHO, the only time a SuperShuttle type service is a good option is (a) when you have a lot of time and don't mind the scenic route across town to your final destination (b) you have too much luggage for public transportation and (c) you're travelling solo (2 people or more a taxi is close to being a better deal)...

Outer, outer, outer mission for me. $30.00 for taxi. Worth it.

SuperShuttle? I had drivers wanting to go downtown and then drop me on their way back to the airport!

However, to each his/her own.

As I recall, in my case it was about $5. Obviously it varies in different locations. I didn't care for the multiple stops but I'm sure some don't mind.
