Worst FA Uniforms???

Not to be politically incorrect, but I was recently on Austrian Airlines and couldn't believe their RED uniforms. Now I like the colour as much as the next guy, but being encased in RED from head to toe (hats, clothes, stockings, shoes etc) --without one break of another colour, would not be pleasing to me. I was told they recently changed to this new outfit, and many did not entirely agree with the choice. So it got me thinking, what other airlines have foisted their 'new look' on unsuspecting FA's.

Worst Uniform

I haven't flown on Eva for a while, but their uniforms are definitely way up there in contention for this dubious award. Bright, shocking, Irish shamrock green combined with Halloween orange accents. The little blouses are chintzy white, shortsleeved, with stripes. Hideous. I know I wrote this up in some distant past trip report.

Apparently the chairman of Eva LOVES green, perhaps it's a cultural of feng shui thing? I've never seen so much green in my life as flying on Eva. But their impeccable safety record, nice lounge in Taipei (use Diners Club card for access), mileage partnership with CO, and great Evergreen Deluxe Economy product makes Eva my choice for Asian travel. If we could just get Eva some decent food and FA uniforms, it would be a treat. But I'll take perfect safety and 38-inch seat pitch (for a low cost) over ugly uniforms anyday. ;)

On the other end of the spectrum, EK has some classy uniforms.

EVA used to have the ugliest uniforms but they have introduced a new one that is more business-like. It is dark green with stripes, which is a big improvement from the previous one. This is not a good pic but it is the only one I was able to come across that would give you an idea of what the new uniform looks like:

On the other hand.....

SQ is definitely tops in having one of the best uniforms!

Not quite the actual FAs on the flights, but from what I hear, Hooters Airline has one of the worst "FA" uniforms.

aloha

I hear they specialize in "DD" uniforms instead

I find KLM's to be the worst..bright lighter blue polyester.

I think both Swiss and BA's new uniforms are very sharp.

Asiana has got to be up there!

In all my travels, I would say Asiana Airlines. Horrible brown color reminiscant of the 70's...

Definitely the worst. :td:

Luckily, it didn't last too long, but recently, AA's FAs were wearing American flag aprons. Betsy Ross would've slapped them, I think.

AA's jumble shop style mix and match uniform has to be right up there - simply vile. UA's matron outfit is little better. I would agree the Austrian uniform is a little OTT - red tights are soo 80's. Gulf Air's whimple/veil confection never fails to get a laugh either.

I think the new BA uniform is very smart, as was the old QF outfit largely because they are/were based on decent tailoring well done, rather than horrible man-made fabric sewn into shapes dreampt up by a twisted mind.

If you want a bad one here's a BAD one !!

Austrian-based low cost operator Niki

My vote's for the all-green Alitalia uniform. Yech.

I feel sorry for the British Midland flight attendants. They have the wear these silly gloves and even sillier hats (!). Who wears hats? I think it was popular in the 60's last time I checked.
