Ground Transportation in Philly??
I did post this in the Philly airport forum also, but doesn't look like anyone is ever there!!
I leave in about 12 hours for my first ever trip to Philly. As usual, I started tonight checking for a shared shuttle van service from the airport to the convention center area. I have not found anything!! I searched the airport website, called the airport transportation dept (they were closed), called the airport 24 hour general info number (and sat on hold for 20 minutes before I gave up!) and have searched google/yahoo. Does anyone know the name/link for this type of service at PHL? Any help would be appreciated! Jennifer |
There are tons of van services leaving from PHL to get into the city. I can recommend Lady Liberty, very reliable: (215) 724-8888. Each of PHL's baggage claim areas has a transportation desk with a big list of van and taxi companies--they'll make the call for you right there. I do book ahead with Lady Liberty to make sure there's room in the van.

Second vote for Lady Liberty: they'll be fine. The usual inconvenience of stopping at various hotels before they get to yours, but such is life in the shuttle business.
A taxi to the Convention Center area is a flat-rate $20. I usually give $25 w/tip. |
Thank you both for the info!!
I also always prefer to schedule ahead, so I will call them this am!! Thanks again, I knew FlyerTalkers would come through! Jennifer |
You can take the SEPTA airport rail line, knwon as R1. It costs $5.50 and takes you to Market East station, which is right at the convention center. Takes about 10 to 15 minutes.

Take the taxi. The flat rate of $20 is fair fare and is a lot more convenient than other forms of transport.
I hope you enjoy the stay. Philly has great eats on both the low and high end of the scale. |
