The next wave of airline bankruptcies

Excellent but worrisome article on the current state of the airline industry. Frankly, I don't want air travel to become a commodity where low cost/price is the sole driver, but that appears to be where we are headed.

Rejoice, there are some long-term plans for costly-and-quick air travel. Look at projects for the russian cosmoplane :

It's one of the few commercial spacecraft planned. Something to will turn spaceshipone into something useful.

The link here is old news, the price of the ticket will go down according to other studies and it will be more affordable. But who cares about amenities and lunch on board, when you're flying at 20,000 mph and no trip can last more than 90 minutes ?

I would spare the word "excellent" when commenting on an analysis that highlights the high pension costs of businesses operating in countries with fairly resilient national insurance systems.

Don't hold your breath. In the late 1980's, there were plans for by MBB for the Sanger and BAe had the Hotl or similar named hypersonic jet. They were planned to have begin service a few years ago. We are still waiting for the prototype which was supposed to be built 15 years ago.
