Standby advice
There is a chance I may miss a flight at the end of a cruise. I have my tickets (four people) and would like to know the best advice if we miss our scheduled flight at noon. This would be out of SEA if that makes a difference. Will they let us take the next flight, if there is room, regardless of the class of ticket we have? What if we have to wait until the next day? Can we still get on a flight that has room, if we wait as standby, or is there a limit to the time the term standby is used? We would have a change fee of $100 each so I hate to spend the money not knowing if I really would have to do it. I have never had this potential problem so would appreciate all insight. The trip is not until Aug.

It would help to have more details (airline, destination, etc.), but generally if you miss your flight, you're best off getting to the airport as quickly as possible. Most airlines will put you on the next available flight on a stand-by basis without charging a change fee or any difference in fare, and generally you can keep standing by until you finally get on a flight without a limitation on time. If you want confirmed space on a later flight, you'd have to pay both the change fee and any fare difference.
