I work in the travel business and have found what seems to be almost a pattern for class designation:
If you ask your colleagues, they may show you the official IATA list which prescribes the pattern that you've almost detected.

Funny,I never knew there was an IATA list for classes booked. I always thought there was a 3-letter base (F,C,Y) which was used for all "pannel" fares, while the rest of the classes were all up to the carriers.
BTW, I recently read an extremely interesting whitepaper about the airlines' revenue and yield management systems. It's absolutely astounding how intricate and accurate these systems are.
