anything to do around DEN for long layover?

Sunday afternoon I have a pretty long layover in Denver (11:30 - 6:40). Is there anything to do around the airport or that is easy to get to? I've obviously never been there and have no idea where the airport is in relation to anything, but I know I would rather not just sit in the airport for 7 hours.

The airport is in the middle of nowhere, and very nice, but not that much fun. You should take a Supershuttle to Denver or Boulder. Takes about an hour each way, but there's not a whole lot of alternative.

Sorry.

JeremyZ is correct. DEN is far out and in the "wrong direction"; away from the mountains that is.

Yes, take a shuttle to Denver or Boulder. Both are nice, clean towns ..

If you want to sleep or shower, several of the motels offer a reasonable day rate.

will I be able to just hop on one of these shuttles at the airport and then back from town? or do I need to make reservations in advance?

Here's the site - looks like you don't need reservations:

Never taken one, sorry - I take my kj. :)

Taking Super Shuttle to Boulder is over 90 minutes each way, and it doesn't look like it takes you to any place close to Pearl St.

Super Shuttle to downtown Denver is an hour each way. If you do take this, I would recommend either being dropped off/picked up from Westin/Tabor Center (or maybe Brown Palace). It's a Sunday afternoon with no baseball game in town, so downtown will be very quiet. Well, there is an Arena Football game at 2pm, but why spend your time indoors?

Here's a link to what to see if walking around downtown...

And if you're so inclined, you could walk two miles from Tabor Center and ride a few roller coasters. ;)

Have fun in Denver.

[snip]

You're nuts.

According to the site, Supershuttle Boulder stops at the Boulderado, which is a block from the dead center of the Pearl Street Mall. The RTD bus will also get you to Pearl Street in about 1:15.

Agree that Boulder is a few minutes longer, but Denver is . . . well . . . . Denver. :)

Walk around downtown denver. Around 6-8 dollars with the RTD bus to downtown. You can walk around the capitol building, and maybe a museum or two. Denver even has some downtown cable car circling around, so thats an easy and quick way to scan the city. Or just hang in the airport. Denver sure is proud of their new airport.
