Visas to Turkey

I have been reading on other threads that the visa cost to Turkey has been reduced from US100 to US25 - does anyone know if we can get visas at the airport and if this is a hassle? We are US and EU citizens.

Yes you can get visa at the Airport - The counter(s) is right next to the passport-control/immigration booths. They have indeed dropped for US citizens to I think USD20.

It went down to $20 on April 1. It's a piece of cake at the airport.

Thanks to you all for the information -

The rules for nationals of EU countries are different for each country. For instance Germans don't need a visa at all, Dutch pay € 10.

The UK is 10 GBP. As noted above, the vast majority of EU countries do need visas and the level is different for each.

I know this sounds strange-

But is there any way to get the visa before arrivial- i.e. the normal take your passport to the embassy route?

You can, but it really isn't necessary and quite frankly a hassle.

Don't miss the visa booth!

Just make sure to keep your eyes peeled when deplaning (it's easy to miss). In all likelihood, most of the other pax on your flight won't require a visa and will head straight for the immigration inspector. If you do the same, you'll end up having to double back, stand in line for the visa, then end up at the back of the immigration line.

I'm sure the situation varies (depending on the nationalities of the people on your flight), but in my case I had to stand in line behind 3 people and the immigration agent was taking an average of maybe 15 - 20 seconds to process each visa.
