Clearing Customs before landing in US.

Just in Nassau, Bahamas. Was very pleased to experience going through US customs at NAS before leaving the island.

Much more convenient IMO!!! http://www.flyertalk.com/airports/ft...orum/smile.gif

Anybody else know of non-US airports where one can clear US customs there, instead of in the US?

Toronto and Vancouver.

Montreal

Calgary, Ottawa. Not from Victoria, Halifax or Kelowna. Not sure about Winnipeg, Edmonton.

Ireland (Shannon and Dublin) offer immigration but not customs preclearance.

YEG and YWG both offer US PFI.

Nope, he's not joking - I've been through it. You have to clear immigration and customs at STT when leaving to go to the US mainland (or Puerto Rico).

Is STT USVI or BVI?

St. Thomas (STT) is part of the US Virgin Islands, along with St. John and St. Croix.

That puzzles me as I believe both are US territories. PR does not require customs so I made the assumption the STT would not either.
Wonder why this is??

The US Virgin Islands are considered a duty-free port and while you can bring back much more than from foreign countries, there are still limits ($1200 worth of goods I think).

Puerto Rico is within the US Customs zone and there are no customs formalities when leaving, there is an agriculture inspection though.
