I think City Night Line should count, as you're effectively going through customs in/out, just as you would if connecting at an airport which requires going landside. You've not been to the United States, besides having MSP as your homebase?

Who makes these rules? the same people who cheat at video games? You have Turkey twice, the US, Puerto Rico, the Hawaiian Islands and US Virgin Islands all as separate countries, and God only knows how many more minor infractions.

Like I said, I am using the Traveler's Century Club list, and that's the way they count 'em. I don't make the rules.

Wow, their official list is 321. Hell, they should just start counting all the US states as countries too!

In 2007, we went to Greece, Egypt, and Turkey (all new for me) and I picked up Crete, Greece, Ionian Isles (Corfu), Turkey in Europe, Turkey in Asia, and Egypt (6 countries instead of three).

Some of their choices seem more defensible than others, but countries aren't as easily defined as one might think. I can see, for example, Isle of Man counting separately from the UK, and Reunion separately from France. But then people might balk at counting Guam separate from the US.

So I throw up my hands and use a list that's meaningful to me and don't worry my pretty little head about it until I need a visa.

Wish I could. Most of mine were visited via international waterways in a Big Gray Boat and visa stamp was not required. However I'm on my second 10yr passport from travels of my own and still have some blank pages left on this one.
