See this article in yesterday's NY Times. It could have been written about any one of us!

Hit 50 this week with the addition of Greece.
It's been a good year, I added three others (Russia, Estonia, Finland).

If I followed the Century Club system, I'd have four more.

Hmmm, seems like a lot of people are still counting England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland as separate countries.

I could inflate my count that way too!

I agree; they're all part of the United Kingdom. The Isle of Man, Jersey, Guernsey and Sark, however, definitely qualify! Anyone want to argue that one?

Using the World Atlas list, I've visited 45 countries and 4 territories / dependencies. I'm not including transits -- neither airport stopovers nor land transits (e.g., transiting Denmark when traveling by train/ferry from Germany to Sweden).

Several of these countries are places I've visited multiple times or have lived in, though...which brings to mind another poll: how many countries have you lived in? (I'll start a new thread for that one...)

Here's a strange one.

I visited the island of Vieques last week, which they claim is in the Spanish Virgin Islands. I'll claim that one.
