State Capitols

How many USA state capitols are west of Los Angeles?

Without looking at a map or checking Google, here's a guess:

Honolulu, Juneau, Sacramento, Salem, Olympia, Boise, Carson City:

7

Obviously too easy for a trivia veteran. Only Boise isn't (~130 miles east)

Capitals or Capitols? I always thought it was the former.

I believe the building itself is "capitol" but the city is "capital"...I suppose in this case either one could be used since the "capitol" is located in the "capital"...

And if a polar bear walks into the Capitol, are you east or west of LA? Or do you just have an unpleasant security situation on your hands?

At least that's how it is in DC: The US Capitol is the building with the dome that is in the nation's capital.
