help with airline choice
I have an opportunity to fly to london from New york and need to decide between American & British Airlines. Can go on either, same price, departure time, & flight duration.
Boils down to which offers the most in comfort & amenities. Any suggestions? ------------------ JJ |
If you will be flying coach/economy, American is almost certainly the better choice for comfort. On American, you'll have considerably more room between you and the seat in front of you (compared to the room on British Airways). Food and amenities are similar. Service can be highly variable dependending on the individuals on the flight, though my experience is that BA more consistently delivers good service.
If you will be flying business or first class, BA is the absolute better choice, with far superior comfort in their seats. |
American in economy for sure. I loathe BA. Even with OneWorld elite benefits, they still manage to screw me over and give absolutely awful service.
Also remember that you cannot get AA miles for flying BA transatl. |
jj863 - Welcome to FlyerTalk!
If you are no already a member of BA's Executive Club, you cannot join until you make one flight in full-fare economy (or higher): http://www.britishairways.com/travel...g/public/en_us Once a member, you only earn fractional points for most discounted economy fares: http://www.britishairways.com/travel...s/public/en_us On AA, there are no joining restructions and you receive full mileage credit for each mile flown. Plus, if you are not already hold elite status on AA, signing up for a gold challenge will bring you 2/3 of the way towards AAdvantage Gold status (a wealth of information on challenges is available in the AA forum). |
