Customs at TXL

I am planning on bringing quite a few gifts on my trip and some might be food such as cheese. What are the rules or exceptions for bringing in food items? Perhaps someone could suggest a site where that information would be available.
Thanks!

Are you flying in from the US? I don't think there are direct flights into TXL, so you'll either change planes and go through customs in other Europe airports in the Schengen zone, or through UK, and clear immigration/customs in Berlin.

From what I've read in other posts, you won't have amy problem with cooked food items in other European airports.

The information on THIS PAGE provides some introductory information for gifts etc. being brought into Germany. Since there's nothing as to any bans on specific food items, I'd suggest contacting the German Consulate in Chicago, either by e-mail or telephone (312) 580-1199

I am flying from Wi to MSP to Ams to TXL. Things such as cheese would probably be OK?
