Do any hotels charge to receive calls?
Many hotels have charges for making local calls that seem a bit ridiculous. Easy to avoid if you want to - just go to the lobby and use a phone card. Okay, you might only save $1 or so, but it feels like a victory over the establishment.
However, I vaguely seem to recall hearing of hotels that charge for receiving calls. Has anyone had this happen? |
No. But they do often charge to receive faxes, which is what you may be confusing it with. About £1 per page in the UK.

I think in the US, they'd have a difficult time collecting on this. "But I never wanted this person to call me." At least with a fax, they can withhold the fax if you don't want to pay for it.

I've been to a number of upscale hotels where incoming international calls are often met by busy signals/messages/cuts/endless holds, but outgoing international calls to the same number mysteriously get through with ease http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttravel_forum/mad.gif
This mostly in Asia, though it may have to do with my travel patterns. |
