Help...how do I get extra inscurance coverage for my luggage

Hi Folks....

I need to transport some expensive materials, in person.

I am wondering, where can I go to obtain additional inscurance for my bags, I think most airlines cap off about $1,250 or so, for domestic flights.

FYI - I will be flying delta.

Thanks, your help is greatly appreciated,

Ric

You can buy it at the counter, up to $5,000 worth.

Hi RCC,

This question doesn't have anything to with miles or points, so I'm going to move it over to TravelBuzz.

Regards,

Then you probably should not be shipping it air cargo!

Robert's Express, I think now called something like "Custom Critical" is a Federal Express service that will transport and insure your $30,000 parcel.

If you need to transport it in person, check with your homeowner's policy. Many of the "elight" carriers such as Chubb will insure an item by name/serial no., and if anything happens to it they will pay after a deductible.

Most travel insurance policie's I've seen topp out in the $5K range.

For $30,000 you probably want a bonded carrier handling it for you, bringing that much in baggage is just asking for trouble. Not sure anybody will insure it to that level if you are carrying it on yourself.
