ORD-MKE drive today (Feb 2)?

I booked a ticket by mistake to ORD instead of MKE. So this evening, I have to drive from ORD to Milwaukee. The forecast says 2-4 inches of snow.

I haven't driven in snow for 10 years, although I am a reasonable proficient driver.

Could anyone refresh my memory? Will the highway be jammed at rush hour with 1 mph creep and skidding? Or will it be the normal slowness around Chicago? I do remember driving in Buffalo, NY during a snowstorm and hoping that there would be an exit soon so that I could stop at ANY hotel.

What time does your plane arrive? The degree of "normal Chicago slowness" will depend greatly on the time. As for snow, it depends on how much snow falls!

Should be a very slow journey, but not necessarily dangerous.

IDOT keeps the highways fairly clear of snow, which is great, but traffic in that direction on I94 any time between 4-7:30 PM is usually horrible.

The traffic does slow down considerably in snow and rain, but it's still safe--just extremely irritating.

Just be careful and you'll be fine, as long as you don't get overconfident and aggressive because you happen to be driving in an SUV. (a common trait around here)

As of 3:00 PM, roads wet but no snow, should be fine!
