Should X-Rated Movies Be Banned From Hotel Rooms?
A national news commentary program in the United States reported tonight that there is a movement of people who want to ban adult movies from hotel rooms - otherwise, they threaten to negatively publicize the hotel chains that continue to allow adult movies.
What is your opinion about this?

This kind of thing can always backfire. I.e., negative publicity becomes positive publicity, from the point of view of those who WANT X-rated movies when they stay in hotel rooms!

My opinion is that these people would serve society 100 times better if they focused their energy on helping those who they purport are hurt by pornography. The fact of the matter is that adult pornography is legal.
I couldn't care less one way or the other if hotels offered these movies. I never turn on a television when I'm in a hotel room except maybe to watch the news. These zealots want to impose their "morals" where it is completely none of their business and they waste the time and resources of businesses who have to confront this hysteria.

Do I feel that hotels must provide X-Rated Movies for their guests? No.
But I do not feel that any federal, state or city ordinance, law or regulation should preclude innkeepers from allowing X-Rated Movies to be viewed in the privacy of their guest rooms.

When the lists of adult sites for the banning software was first distributed (you had to purchase the list to load in your software so the kids wouldn't visit places yo udidn't want them) they found they were selling way more copies of the list then of the sfotware to load it into.
Seems people found this a very inexpensive way to get a listing of tens of thousands of porn sites.
The same thing will happen, people will seek out the hotels with adult films in them if they are so inclined.
Don't see any purpose in banning them.

Had an interesting experience a couple of years ago at a *wood in Calgary.
When you turn the TV on, it is tuned to the porno channel. When you surf off to another channel, you can never get back there - you have to turn off the TV and turn it on again to get your kicks.
Not all that concerned about the availability of porno in hotels, but I can imagine mommy telling the 9 year old to go look for Sesame Street on TV while mommy and daddy unpack, and then having to answer the questions.

Two things come to my mind:
1)If you don't want to see porn in your hotel room---don't watch it.
2)All of these hotels have had their TV systems and software programs paid for in full by the porn industry---and the hotels get to keep rougly 80% of the movie fee take. This is very profitable to the industry. I wonder if the same people would be willing to pay $20 more per night to stay in a room that does not offer porn on the TV's(Sir, do you want one king or two singles?, smoking or non-smoking?, porn or no porn?. . . . ).
If people are so upset about this they should be going after ATT cable---they make serious profit by being the conduit of adult channels.

I really have very little space for the intolerance of religious fanatics in today's world. I heard this PR push a couple months ago, and again this morning on O'Reilly. It seems to be falling on deaf ears, as it ought to.

I can't remember where I read this, but supposedly about half of the PPV revenue from in-room movies is from the adult selections. I would imagine that many hotels would find it not profitable to install a PPV system if half the revenue went away.

I thought I was renting XXX the movie with Vin Diesel and then
All kidding aside, if you don't like it, don't buy it.
If you are traveling with kids, have it disabled the time you check in the hotel.
Doesn't sound too complicated.
