NYC Restaurant Recommendations?

Any recommendations for Sat night dinner in general times square area? Staying at the Westin Times Square.

Would love something with an asian influence, or nouvelle but not fussy ...

we're on somewhat of a low carb regime so pasta etc is out ...

Post this same query on the Manhattan board at http://www.chowhound.com and you'll get tons of responses.

Tao.

No exactly Times Square but a short 5 minute taxi.

Redeye Grill on the northwest corner of 7th Avenue and West 56th Street (about a frigid - but neat - 15 minute walk uptown from Times Square). It's not an Asian specialry restaurant, but it's got phenomenal sushi.

Ruby Foos is an Asian place in the general area. Pretty interesting place along the lines of what you want.

Good (not spectacular) Chinese at Ollie's Noodle Shop and Grill - 200 W. 44 Street

Lots of non-noodle meat, poultry and seafood dishes if you want to avoid the rice and wheat content in the noodles.

auh2o, just checked the menu out for this place and it looks very good! I'll have to try it out if I decide to burn a free weekend in NYC.

For Asian trendy, you can try the Blue Fin at the W. A bit pricy but it is a fun ambience.

If you like Thai food, I love Pongsri on 48th near 8th Ave. May not look too fancy but it is delicious.

Also another trendy Asian outift would be 66. At 241 Church Street not anywhere near TS. Vong on 200 E 54th would be Thai food of the same chef. Chef rarely on location for booth IMHO. Chef being Jean Georges.

Don't know whether 'A Dish of Salt' is still around, but I ate three outstanding meals there during a few month stint about five years ago.

Good suggestions, I havent been to Vong for a while but it was really very good some years ago. Heard some good buzz on 66 also. His restaurants are generally pretty upscale but these are on the low end of his places compared to his flagship restaurant, Jean George. Im a fan of Ollies too. It isnt fancy but pretty good and cheap.

Blue Fin. On top of the W hotel in Time Square. The only place non-tourists will go in Time Square area. http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttr...orum/smile.gif
