White Christmas

I have always wanted a white Christmas..something we don't get a lot of in Australia http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttr...orum/smile.gif

I have decided that 2004 will be the year but I need help finding a place where I am guaranteed to have snow. Preferably somewhere in the USA or Canada due to costs and accessibility.

Any ideas?

Guaranteed to have snow or your money back? http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttravel_forum/wink.gif Go to a high elevation, somewhere in the mountains. Aspen? Vail?

Northeast united states looks pretty good for that right now!

Last christmas was the first one I spent in Baltimore, and it snowed quite heavily on Christmas day. Being from New Zealand, this was my first white christmas, and I was very glad for the experience. I still prefer the beach and bbq of course, but it was a good time http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttravel_forum/wink.gif

I would recommend heading much further North though, as I believe you need to be a lot closer to Canada or probably further before you are even close to being guaranteed any snow!

It will melt. You really can't count on snow in the Northeast before Christmas unless you are talking about northern Vermont or northern Maine.

Lake Tahoe. 200 miles east of SFO, 50 miles west of RNO. There is actually an airport in Tahoe, too, TVL, no idea who flies into there. In a word, spectacular.

The Sacramento Bee had a recent article on Lake Tahoe in their travel section with some prices and links that might be worth a look here .

How about Christmas in Montreal? I saw somewhere that there's an 80% chance of snow being on the gound there for Christmas in any given year. In the unlikely event there isn't any, you could just head out to Mont Tremblant.

Here's a link showing the odds of a White Christmas:http://www.usatoday.com/weather/climate/whitcmas.htm
I can guarantee it in the Michigan Cities listed as I am there right now and no chance of what we have melting anytime soon.
