Flu Shots
Found on www.bestfares.com--Five airports that have clincs and have flu shots available. I have been in Honolulu for a month and would like to know how bad this flu
season is on the mainland |
Try the CDC's site:
http://www.cdc.gov/flu/ From the map I've seen on CNN, the flu seems to be bad % wise out in Western US. Moderate in the Midwest and I forget what the East was like. ------------------ Visit FlyerTalk Dining http://flyertalk.com/diningfr.shtml |
Flu sucks on the mainland; folk dying - lots of others brought low - and wouldn't you know it - the first year i delayed on getting my shot - and now may not be able to.

Not only can one not get a shot, when one does get the shot, it is protection against the wrong strain of flu.

From what I learned by now by two different MDs (one a lung specialist who tried to find out why I cough), a flu shot will need a while to build up antibodies, so you need to give it weeks in advance before exposure (just like any other vaccination). Also the flu shot goes, as mentioned before, only against some selected strands, and there is a good chance that it will not work against what you are exposed to.
Besides this, flu mostly kills the old and weak and poor nutrishioned. I cannot get the shot because of my cough, and because of this I am also more likely to pick up anything that flies around, so I have right now the second time in 2 years a flu. Not nice - yes, really dangerous? My abcessed tooth had hurt me more. Plenty of fluids, eat tons of fruit and veggies for the vitamins and some bedrest and you are like new. |
