Halifax to Norway

I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to get from Canada to Norway cheap? From Halifax would be preferable, but any major eastern Canadian City would be a huge help, Toronto, Montreal, Halifax. I was looking to go either mid march, or early June. If anyone knows of some way to get to Norway as inexpensively as possible, that would be great.

Welcome to FT.

Quite a coincidence...TODAY ONLY, SAS is offering flights to Oslo, Norway, from EWR (Newark), IAD (Washington Dulles) or ORD (Chicago) for US$279. You can travel until the end of March on this fare. The link is here .

If you have any AC Aeroplan miles, you should be able to get to EWR or IAD on a short haul reward for 15,000 miles. Air Miles or a credit card reward might be another option, or you could just buy a flight on AC or Jetsgo.

Even if you had to buy a ticket to EWR or IAD, your total cost would probably be around C$850, which is far less than the current advertised fares for YHZ-OSL (around C$1300 before taxes).

Good luck!

Air Transat used to fly to London, I was going to say get a cheap lo cost ticket on to Oslo. However from their new timetable it appears they now fly Halifax to Frankfurt and Munich, I'd suggest the same thing.

Act fast. Today SAS is having a 24-hour sale to Oslo (it's partly through the day already, of course). The cheapest prices you are likely to see, I think.

If that link, doesn't work, go to http://www.scandinavian.net and look for their Christmas sale.

Isn't YHZ also relatively close to BOS? From there, one could fly Icelandair to OSL, via Reykjavik. Unfortunately, it appears that FI may have discontinued its service to YHZ.

Another option is to fly to LON, and then connect on Ryanair (bearing in mind FR's creative geography), BA, SK or any other carriers on the relevant route.

There is another low-cost option from LON - norwegian.no. Unlike Ryanair they fly to where they say they fly to. And, according to Norwegian friends, they are very good.

I used the Torp airport near Oslo to take a Ryanair flight to London. It was fine. It's only a ride of 90 minutes or so to get there, and the airport itself is quite small.
