Hotel Upgrades

Hi,
I was told by someone that you can get Free Upgrades with Hilton if you have airline status?

Does anyone know how this works?

I am a HHonor Member (Blue-without status)

Thanks

I believe somebody told you wrong.

There are some hotels that will upgrade you at checkin if they can, for example SRS Hotels says the following about United:

If you are a Premier®, Premier Executive® or 1K® member, you will also be offered a complimentary suite upgrade at check-in, if space is available.

but Hilton isn't one of them. Go to UAL.com, click on Mileage Plus partners, then hotels, and click on the ones to see what they offer.

Has anyone done this at an SRS hotel? I'll be staying at the Pan Pacific KUL. Should I call ahead and advise of my UA status? Bring the card and printout of the website?

It's not a published perk, but occasionally Hilton will offer Gold status, which in turn, may get you a free upgrade, to mid/high staus holders of different airline programs. I was comped Gold VIP status by Hilton Honors program last year when I was AA Platinum member. At that time it was a published perk, not anymore. Although there are reports that Hilton is targeting individual AA members all the time with the same offer. Officially I think they moved the offer to NWA/KLM, but I'm not sure.

If you hold a high elite status with one of the major airlines, I would call Hilton Honors Cust Serv and politely ask if they have any type of upgrade program. You've got nothing to lose.
