Worst Seatmates?

Who are the worst seatmates you have ever had on a flight?

Mine come down to:

*** The drunkard on a JFK-CDG Delta flight whose putrid breath, and loud filthy language, were made worse each time he took another sip from the flask he was carrying with him. Fortunately, I was able to switch seats.

*** The extremely fat woman I sat next to on a TLV-IST charter flight who kept screaming, "We're going to die." This was BEFORE take off!

***The incredibly lovely, mid-40's, blonde from Florida who sat next to me in B/E on a Delta ATL-CDG flight. What was wrong with her? Three things: She had her parents with her, she had her children with her, and she showed absolutely no interest in me!

1. The gentleman who sat next to me on ONT-SLC (CRJ) and as soon as he sat down, slams his elbow into my arm demanding that, "this is my armrest!"

2. The DFW-MEM (CRJ) where there was a LOUD crying baby the ENTIRE flight seated next to me after I had gotten just under 3 hours sleep the night before.

People who take off their shoes and socks and have very smelly feet. Who would ever take off their sock when the floor is so dirty? Man/woman reading a porn mag really offends me, i feel it's inappropriate on the aircraft. I wonder if i COULD ASK HIM LEGALLY TO PUT IT AWAY? I would like to see your responses.. People who watch movies on their own personal devices and it's really LOUD. People who take up half an overhead bin for their hat and the flight is full and make a scene when you try to move it. People who change diapers on the floor in the first class area. Pax who take my first class pillows and blankets when they are are the way in the back and have plenty in the back. Pax who are first to board and are not FF's who plop their luggage in the closed bins in the first row of coach. I always close those bins and try to guard them for the FF's in the bulkheads who need room for their luggage. OK i'm done

Dovster, although this type of topic is always interesting to read, it is not DL related. Therefore I am moving it to the TravelBuzz board.

Vett I agree 100%. You are my kind of FA, and the great news is that there are 100's like you on DL, consistently displaying a high level of professionalism and customer service. Thanks you very much.

The bad news is that, with the proliferation of RJs, you won't have as much of a chance to do your stuff, and the impact of a bad seatmate will be even more pronounced.

The business man who sits next to me in 7E (I am in 7F) and talks to his co-workers the whole flight who are sitting in 6D and 6F with 6E open! Why don't you move to 6E between them!

Gate Agents who think they don't have to let people my age (14) board first in the regular line for Y! (happened in January).

People who think they can look at my notebook which I wrote the Trip Report in while I am in the lav.

Are you trying to preboard first because you are a child?

The "snotty" guy on a CX HKG-NRT in F, he was sniffing and snottering through the entire flight, and instead of blowing his nose he just decided it would be better to annoy his fellow passengers...

The woman who first thought I was Robert Fulghum (remember "Everything I Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten"?), because I have a beard & glasses.

Then, upon quizzing me and learning my vocation is with a religious institution, began telling me, uninvited, all about her particular religion, one which I find little commonality with (I'm trying to say this very nicely).

I ended up putting on my headsets and nodding my head to an imaginary rythm--the cd player wasn't on... http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttr...orum/smile.gif

Any that smell or are obnoxious, or just don't think about other people.

The one that wins for me...

The lady on the A330 sitting in H (I'm in K on a 2-4-2) who had to suck 'in' just to put her seatbelt on with the loosest setting. And then upon landing in LHR, she acted as if she was in the window seat. Oh baby oh!

No, I am not a UM anymore. I meant to board when I am first in the regular/Y pax line.

Not the WORST seatment, but an annoying one recently.

I was on the USAir Shuttle DCA-BOS, on a 737-300. Last minute reservation, stuck in a middle seat. The woman in the window seat decided to sit on an angle, with her body huddled next to the window, and her crossed(!) legs angled into the space in front of MY seat. Every time I went to stretch my legs under the seat in front of me, I would hit her legs and she got visibly annoyed.

So, passive aggressive ba$tard that I am, proceeded to shift my legs back and forth. I was just waiting for her to say something, but she got the hint and sat up straight and put her legs under her own seat.

Has anyone ever sat next to this guy?
