Portable footrests?

I have a back problem and find it helps diminish discomfort if I can prop my feet up a bit off the airplane floor (and recline a bit). Some planes have flip-down footrests (though they're not as high as I'd like), others have nothing, even in F.

For really long flights it'd be worth it to me to bring along my OWN portable footrest for use, but it'd obviously have to be collapsible and fit in a carryon, and not too heavy (e.g., some kind of plastic). I've looked in some travel catalogues and found nothing.

Has anyone used or seen such a product anywhere?

The thought of an inflatable sheep comes to mind, but this isn't in Omni... http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttr...orum/smile.gif

However, you can probably knock something together out of 1x4s from Home Depot or your local lumber yard and a few hinges so it will fold. Shouldn't weigh much. You might get a few odd looks from screeners, but I don't think it would be on the prohibited list.

Skymaill has one.

also here...

Just get a bag and prop your feet on it, I say.

I used an blow-up beachball once. Inflate it about 3/4 full and park your feet on it.

But wouldn't the beach ball deflate if you put too much pressure on it?

Anyway, I've been wondering the same thing too as I have very short legs...even when I do get a footrest, sometimes it's still a little far away for my feet to rest comfortably. Think I'm going to check out the Magellan's item, have a trip to London coming soon.

I use a backpack. It also handily doubles as cabin baggage.

Yeah, I've used a backpack on occasion too, but I'm always afraid I'm going to crush something in it by doing that, and there usually is something crushable in there.
